I have a 99 ranger 4x4. My tag on the axle is as follows
S373S
410-75-8M14

Which ratio do I have? I looked at the chart and my tag is not the same setup. Also I have alot of play/delay in my rear axle. I only feel it in 2wd, not in 4wd. I am pretty sure because I am feeling it in 2wd only It's my rear axle. No play in u-joints. Please help. William

welcome to the site!

you have 4.10 gears in the Ford 7.5 inch housing.
as for your other question, i have no idea

something sounds loose? might be an idea to pop off ur diff cover and have a look. wut direction is the play in?

I have a delay, play when i take off. No noise, just play. I can move my driveshaft 1/3 the way around. I am going to take of the diff cover this weekend to change gear oil. It is like a hisitation, but not in the tranny

On the later rangers, i have experienced / heard about a lot of problems with the slip yoke. There are a few short term solutions out there likr greasing the yoke or a new Dshaft. It feels like a little hesitation followed by a slight thud. I've never tested to see if my hesitation/thud is any diff in 4wd. Good luck

What he said.

When I had my ranger I noticed the symptoms of the slip-yoke would go away when in 4WD.

well if its sounds like wut your describing then it could be play in the axle shafts in the carrier or the drive shaft at the tranny or diff
