Need more horsepower

Mill your head to increase compression, cam it out, or tune it with a standalone or tuner.

Turbo is an option, so is a blower, but now you're into $$$.

5.0 swap is a good option.

I'm at the same point with my 1996 2.3. Odds are ill leave it alone and be frustrated.

It came from the factory with a cold air intake. Electric fan is the best idea in this list. But it's not a miracle drug.
yes factory is a cold air style, i feel you still gain something by eliminating the stock flexible tubing, i coubled mine together out of peices from old vehicles/ leftover parts from cold air kits, along with a few plumbing no-hub bands, at very least it sounds better.
