HI, I'm converting from A4LD to a blessed 5-speed.

I need to know how to change the pedal assembly to fit the manual transmission. It looks rather specific and difficult, to me. This is a '92 Ranger.:icon_confused:

Thanks!

Not that hard to do, but I don't have specific instructions. The pedals are mounted on a bar that you undo and just slide out after popping off the brake and clutch push rods.

You will need to acquire the combo pedal bar before hand, obviously, if you haven't already done so. You can't just add a clutch pedal because the brake pedal on the combo unit is actually smaller than the automatic brake pedal.

If you are taking one from a junkyard then you will have the pleasure of removing it and learn from that as to how it goes back together.

While doing the removal, make sure you keep all the plastic spacers that go under the pedals and between them.

Make sure you keep the retaining nuts, clips or pins from the replacement also and maybe get a spare for the clutch rod because they are cheap plastic and have four little arms that wrap around the retaining bulb on the end of the shaft...but tend to break...I think my current one has only three of those arms but still holds things together.

Only other thing I could suggest other than actual hands-on experience is to have a look at a blow-up diagram of the assembly in something like the on-line manual or maybe even a Haynes manual...can't remember if they have that specific diagram but it's out there somewhere.

The only way to do it WITHOUT removing the dash is to unbolt the ebrake pedal assembly and the main wiring harness. This will give you JUST enough room to wiggle the pedal shaft in or out.

I removed mine from the junkyard with the seats in, but I could sure tell it the next morning. Ouch.
