Okay. Do you happen to have a diagram of where the vacuum lines run from and where they connect to on the carb?? My were all messed up.sounds like what mine was doing when I first put it together...ended up having to clean the carb...how long ago was it last running and did you recently change/remove anything?
Could be a vacuum line is disconnected...that's the second thing that was wrong with mine...I had left a huge gaping hole that caused the engine to die once I let the gas off...
Okay. What is AARC?? Never heard of it??There should be one on the AARC site...there is a link under the main page subheading "Submit items for On-Line magazine.."
I checked it the other day and was able to get into it...that's where I found the diagram for my motorcraft 5200 carb...but you may have to search a bit...for some reason vacuum lines weren't considered important.
I went to Ford for my original carb and it was nearly impossible to get any diagrams...
However, the engine will run as long as the vac lines are not broken (leaking) and otherwise connected or plugged...if youy spray water around the engine while it is running (as in light mist) and it suddenly starts running better that is usually where the leak is...some suggested using quick start, but I was kind of leary about doing that out of fear of a backfire...so be careful if you go that route...
