I've got a 1999 Ford Ranger that's in really good shape that id give a 8 out of a 10 that's had a motor swap to a 302. The motor is mildly built (heads, Holley 4 barrel, headers, small cam) I drive it all the time and even though it's been straight axled and has 38.5 Boggers it should still have plenty of power. Well I got someone to push the pedal all the way to the floor and I noticed that the throttle is only opening up halfway. How cN I fix this, the throttle cable is as tight as I can get it before it starts reving up by itself.. And another question I got is what gear could I go with?its got a C6 trans behind the 302 and 205 transfer case with 14" of lift and 15/38.5-15lt Boggers If anybody can help me I'd Really appreciate it the quicker the better you can call or text me at (912)339-0586 if you'd like thanks,

In order to fix the throttle issue, you either need a shorter throttle lever arm, or a pedal assembly that's designed to work with that throttle. The Mustang guys will probably know the best answers to that question.

As far as gears go...What axles do you have? That will define what gears are available. After that, what do you wish to use this truck for? Without those details, noone can make a useful recommendation.

Its got a Dana 44 Front and Ford 9" rear. And I have a universal throttle cable on it now made my mr gasket. The bottom of the pedal touches the floor before the the throttle opens up all the way. I drive it on the highway a lot bc it's fun to drive I wanna be able to smoke the tires down and make people's jaws drop when I wanna and just drive around town right when I wanna bc it makes people look likes owls when they see it there necks turn nearly all the way around.i still have my 2010 loaded crew cab 4x4 lariat f150 to so. I'd post a pic if I new how

I'm pretty sure it's got factory 3:55 gears in it now. It's got 14" of lift in the front and 12" in the back on 15/38.5-15lt Boggers on 15x12 wheels

For sure you will need 4:50's of lower in that ride.
As for the throttle, sounds like you need a shorter throttle lever. Most can be cured by drilling another hole in the lever making the lever SEEM shorter.
Hold the pedal on the floor, with the throttle lever disconnected, open the throttle all the way and pull the cable to the lever. That should tell you where to drill the hole for best results.

What carb?

If it's vacuum secondaries, it won't open the back barrels while the engine isn't running. If it is running and won't open them, then the carb has a vacuum leak and needs to be rebuilt.

Even with the motor running when I put the gas pedal to the floor it only opens half way. My pedal hits the floor before carb fully opens, and as of now like i said with the pedal hitting the floor before the cable only the carbs open half way and the throttle cable is as tight as its gonna get before it causes the motor to start idling high If any one whose done a ranger with a Ford carbureted 302v8 motor swap I'd really like to see pics on how you run the throttle cable and what kind of throttle cable you use

Sir, you are looking at the problem all wrong.

Think of it like this. If you have more travel in the cable you will have that same amount of travel in the PEDAL! So you will end up with the pedal moving more than any other pedal you have ever used.
The REPAIR is to shorten the travel of the throttle lever. Right now the cable is most likely at the END of the throttle lever. So you need to SHORTEN the lever. That will make the carburetor actuation the SAME as the PEDAL actuation.
You do that in the manner described above. drilling a new hole and even cutting the carb throttle lever shorter has been a common practice over the years. There are other, more involved, methods of making the pedal travel and the carb lever match, but why go into problems other than you have now?
Again: take the cable loose from the throttle. Hold the throttle wide open. Hold the pedal to the floor. Hold the cable to the lever and make a mark where to drill the new hole. If desired or needed cut the lever shorter. Drill a new hole and attach the cable to the new hole. PROBLEM IS FIXED!
