Plug 1 is your "crankshaft Position Sensor"

Colors are orange/red
dark blue
gray
Blk

Plug 2 I think has to do with the emissions but cant find the info right now.

Bryan,
thanks for the first one.. definitely need any information on #2 you and anyone else can offer..

see i have been fighting the typical intermittent ranger 2.3L no start problem it happens especially when it rains or is damp..

SO yesterday i cleaned all contacts in the power distribution box changed all relay's and main fuses and added some dielectric grease, i then moved on to every plug i could see and separated, cleaned and added dielectric grease to them also...

when i got to that particular plug i noticed that it wasn't fully plugged together and i played hell separating it, once apart i found that it was corroded to a nice green color... so i cleaned those contacts really good with a small file, contact cleaner and then q-tips and then added the dielectric grease and it seated back together nicely..

now i'm trying to find out exactly what it is for so i can hopefully determine if that was possibly the cause of the intermittent no start problem so i can pass that information on the future owners..

If the crank sensor wires were corroded and not fully in contact, that most certainly could have caused an intermittent no start.

Give me the colors on plug 2 and I will look for you. Sorry my truck is out of state right now with my niece, or i could look for you. Sent you a PM.

Also check to make sure all bolts are in the ICM they ground the unit .

if i remember right plug #2 is a dark green wire plugging in to solid black..
this is the one that was corroded and not completely plugged in that took a great deal of cleaning while the crank sensor plug was plugged in but i did pull it apart and clean it and then added dielectric grease to that also..

on the ICM i am missing one of the bolts, that was missing when i bought the truck last month and unfortunately the top right hand one is completely rounded off and it is too cold here in NJ to take the dremel to it, hoping it will last until spring or a nice warm winter day..

in the meantime i did pick up a new ICM module when it first started giving me trouble and made a ground strap for it and the truck still wouldn't start
even with that when it was acting up that's why i am trying to find out what plug #2 is as i'm thinking make that hoping it may have been the cause of my trouble all along...

the second plug is just the shield drain for the crank sensor wires, it is most likely just a ground...

well it was wishful thinking... didnt start again this AM so i took my car
then when i got home it started after cranking quite a bit and then had
a miss..fuel pump???
unfortunately i cant test fuel pump pressure either because my actron
is for GM so i am trying to find if they make an adaptor for use on Ford

fuel pump was replaced yesterday and it started multiple times today without a problem
looks like a weak fuel pump was the issue all along..

Auto zone has a schematic for most rangers on their web site for engine and chassis wiring

looked at that and couldnt locate this plug as it is not very detailed..
