need a little more umphf!!

my check engine llight stays on..its off when u first start up..but after about 2 or 3 minutes it comes on...ive tried resetting it b4 but no use it just comes right back on.

now this piece is inside the stock intake tube right???if so how the hell do i get it out without cuttin the old one up??and to be honest...i think it may have already been removed!!idk...never got a close enough look

Once you undo both clamps at each end, just try and look through it. It looks like one of those old nerf footballs....sort of. You cant miss it. And to get it out, just use a pair of needle nose pliers. Its just pressed inside, i used pliers and while holding the tube with one hand, grabed the edge of the dildo thing and pulled it right out. Turns it into a peice of straight plastic pipe. I noticed a nice little difference once I pulled mine out. I can scratch second purdy darn good now. Still sucks because I have never got my truck past 82! So im heading out right now to do the maf relocate thing righ now.

well..i can scratch 2nd all day long in mine...and i took her out on the interstate the other day and had her up to about 97mph...but had to slow down cuz of traffic..could maybe have got 105 out of the old gurl but...like i said..freakin traffic.havent checked on the dildo yet ive got my days and nights mixed up right now so i been sleepin all day..lol

Well it takes about 3 minutes to pull that baffle out of that peice of pipe and makes a little difference. Nothing noticable, but you can tell. Also, i just moved my MAF from the airbox to the last peice of rubber tubeing going to the TB. You have your airbox, then bolted to that is your MAF, then a 90 degree elbow which is clamped to that long black pipe (which has the removable baffle inside) then that is clamped to a 45 degree elbow which clamps to the TB. At that 45 is where I put the MAF, and that as well made a little more differance as well. If im going for gold, I have to hit 2nd at 30, 3rd at 57, and 4th around 70. all 5th does is slow me down. The fastest I have ever had that truck is 82 and I got on the freeway, went through the gears like hell, and held my foot the the wood all the way to my next exit which is approx. 7 miles. 82...thats crap. She will scoot around town just fine, but has no power. I attempted to tow my 14' aluminum flat bottom to the river.....I had to finally down shift to 3rd on the freeway! I was doing 43 mph. Ya, Im in the mist of a turbo and or v8 swap.

mforrest, look at your id tag on the rear end and see what gears you have, mine shifts at 35 in first, 60 at second, 80 for 3rd dk bout 4th and 5th (speedo stops at 85). i have 3.73 gears in my 7.5 rear end and an m50d trans. i honestly think your pulling dif gears or dif trans with dif ratios. tech section has that lined out. another thing is mine has 215/70r 14 tires, less rotating mass and smaller so they can be pulled easier along with 40 psi in the tires. if your pulling 25psi in your tires that can hold you back too, i have faith in your trk and sounds like there is just something slightly off.

Im also running 215.70R 14's and I keep the PSI between 38 and 40. The trans in mine is a......I forget...I just replaced the stupid thing....I know the ID to the trans has a 5, an N, an R and a 1 in it. Just dont know the order. I know that sounds bad, but its been awhile and Im not too fimiliar with ford 5 speeds. I checked my rear end tag a while back but there is no tag on it. I am going to jack it up soon as the rain stops and check again, if still no tag can be found I am just going to do the ol mark on the pinion yoke and then spin the tires one full rev to get an aprox number. I just drove home today in about a 30 mph head wind and I could not sustain 65 in 5th. I had to keep the RPMs purdy high in 4th to keep her at 65. I just got a new camera so I am going to video my 0-? and post it to see what you guess think. Also, where do I hook a tach wire from a Aftermarket tach? I can not figure it out!

tach wire from what ive seen in the wiring diagrams is a yellow wire with a black tracer off the computer, i have not instlled one myself but i have looked it over as i will be installing one in the future myself. i have the mazda 5 speed, m50dr1 in my 92 i robbed it out of a 96mazda b2300 the previous owner destroyed the gears/synchros and stuck it in 4th replaced it a yr ago, what yr is your trk? the id tag will be on the dif cover attached to one of the bolts if it is not there you will have to count teeth. since your tires/psi are the same as mine and your shift points are pretty much the same as mine i dare say its not the rear end gearing its going to be a dif transmission. you can look in the tech library it lists them all and what yrs they were used. if i go uphill (large bridge or steady incline) doing 60 i have to drop gears or i will lose speed to 45mph, i can pull the hill doing 50 in 5th if i hit the hill or bridge doing 70mph. for cruising i usually let it run in 4th, the engine is much more responsive to throttle and i pass in 3rd doing 50 or more, ill drop to second if im doing 30 to 40. also noticed better mileage as im not straining the engine (using more than half throttle to keep cruising) at 60 in 4th, 5th doesnt feel good in mine til around 72-78mph, then i can pull it all the way past 100 so im told from the guy with the camaro the other day. my exhaust combo may have something to do with it, i hav no cat (do not remove it, idle problems..mine was already gone when i bought the truck with a stopped up muffler) i do have however a 40 inch glasspack and a 40 series copy that dumps out the back that help with pressure and flows well without the cops on my ass. i also increased my exhaust pipe diameter from 2'' to 2 1/4'' to help it flow better as well. hopefully that helps you.

u know i cut my cat and put a straight pipe on where it was, and left everything else...the stick muffler was more than sufficent in keepin it nice and deep in sound...stock mani, and stock piping...i planned on buyin a set of comp headers and doin some work so they where a 4into2, then runnin 2.25 pipe into a 2in 2 out mangaflow 28" 3 chamber muff, with 18"x3" tips..but....that may never happen:(
