well im wanting a cold air intake system but my 88 2.3 has the iac valve on the air box so i was looking and the 90 has it on the throttle body will the 90 throttle body fit???

I know this isn't exactly answering your question, but why not just make a mount for the stock IAT somewhere close to your new filter? That's what i did, works fine.

Also not exactly answering your question, but if you want a true "cold air intake," then leave it like it is. It already has a cold air intake, straight from the factory! The only two things that I have done to my intake are: 1) pull metal springy-thing out of intake tube from box to throttle body, throw in garbage and 2) remove pre-heat hose from exhaust manifold to air inlet duct, seal with a bit of plastic and epoxy. Voila! You've got a true, sure-as-shit CAI on there now, hermetically sealed from engine heat!
