my dad would NOT have been helping me fix it after rolling it hahaha. Glad he was ok but I was wondering why fix it? I mean everything but frame and motor/trans stuff was wrecked. Seems it would be easier and cheaper to just buy a new one. There are a bunch of those for sale out here in az that just need a motor or something for like 1500 and you get the whole truck!

Ever done something the hard way? Just for the sake of doing it the hard way? I guess not... By rebuilding it, more like building another truck from the ground up, my son will be able to say that he built this truck from the ground up and touched every single nut and bolt, gave every detail on it some attention.

Then he will know what it takes to build a truck and will be less likely to trash it due to the hard work he's putting into it. As I type this I can hear him in the yard taking the dash out of the rolled truck.

Also, by helping him rebuild it, I know it will be safe to drive,and my son will never be able to say or have to say "My dad would never help me fix my truck after rolling it" or any of the other things people have said their dad would have done or said to them.

whoo whoo dude don't need to get defensive here. You apparently haven't seen my truck because NOTHING on that truck was anything but hard. I'm pretty sure everyone on here including myself was just messing with you in a joking way. I never had to build a truck to not roll it. My truck was my first truck and almost ten years later i'm driving that same truck so i'm not questioning your parenting choices. If you think it will make him a safer driver than I don't think anyone would question you. My point is just for the money it's going to take you could get one that needed a motor/trans and some work and be money ahead and STILL work on it. Wasn't saying that it was dumb or anything like that just wasn't sure. Some people have had the truck in the family or ect. ect. And hey I'm all for working with your dad on a project. I always have with my dad for as long as I can remember and they are great memories to have.
