I'd get a ranger harness and start with that and add the necessary parts... it'll fit the cab easier

Yea? I was thinking of that, what year should I get it out of, I have an 88 carb. motor. Any particular harness you think would benefit, TC motor is an 85, my truck is an 88

get an '86-88 FI 2.3 harness, they'll match the truck setup better than anything newer, you'll probably want a good portion of the wiring so you can get the fuel pump (try for a single pump truck which would probably be a '88) and such

@Heavyfire-2.3 4cyl.Turbo
@everyone else, thanks for the replies. So go with 89+ fuel pump? and 88 2.3 FI Harness?

any suggestions on radiator? I was gonna take the TC radiator and fan but the fan sticks out kinda far

and does it have to be an 88 harness? got some 86's and 87's around here

as long as it's FI'd and a 2.3 it should work, there'll be some small differences but it'll fit the engine compartment.

hmm, didn't realize that it was '89 up that used the single pump, the single in tank pump is the same as the one in the thunderbirds...

On the radiator, the stock will work fine, if it gets hot grab one from an explorer as it'll bolt in, you'll need to use a '86 turbocoupe lower radiator hose (I noticed the one you have is cut and the stock hose with some modifications for the upper hose (I cut mine in half and spliced it with a copper pipe 45* fitting), that will open you up to several options from 2.9L ranger radiators to the thick explorer unit...

thanks alot, i am going hunting for parts tomorrow!

also quick question, what can i do to convert from vbelt to serpentine belts? I am doing away with AC and power steering. So itll just be waterpump,crank and alternator.

If you switch to a single intank pump, going to need to swap fuel lines from a Ranger with a similar wheel base that had a single intank pump, or going to need to bypass the reservoir & inline fuel pump in some sort of fashion.

he's going from a carbed 2.0 to a FI'd turbo 2.3, he's going to need fuel lines and pump anyway, might as well go with the least complicated system. From whatever truck you get the fuel lines and pump from, grab the fuel rail and use it on the truck, the turbo injectors should bolt up to the rail you get, but the turbo rail most likely won't match up to the fuel lines... the fuel pressure regulator is the same between the two.

as far as going to serpentine, grab a serpentine setup from another 2.3, personally I'd stick with power steering though, it's handy and going in a straight line it doesn't use any extra power. my '90 ranger came without power steering, was a fairly simple setup, look for fleet trucks if you are needing a no A/C and no PS setup...
