This has been my project for about 4 years it's a 98 ford ranger 5 speed 3.0 reg cab long bed it's had 3 of the 3.0 vulcan motors with 2 m5r1 rwd but this year is starting in to new grounds with a 440 Big Block and a 727 auto 3 speed out a motorhome and a 8.8 in the current state it's got a monstaliner black and tan paint job

with the 2002 edge bumper and hood the truck has treated me as I did as a teen but it's name has changed over the years from Black Fox then Black Beauty then this past year it's was deemed Summer Love do to it was never running in the winter so this year it's starting the year it's not gonna to be a ford motor in it and those who are in to drag trucks I am looking for advice on parts

Does a 440 fit into a ranger?

Sounds huge and expensive to get parts for but even stock it will probably be fun.

The 727 is a solid trans, thats for sure

There has been a couple trucks fitted with the ford 460. I'm not sure the dimensions of the 440 but with a sawzall and a welder anything is possible.
I think it will be very hard to get traction...

If the engine fits, usually the issue people have, as far as fitment, is the exhaust and the steering shaft. If you can figure that out, the rest is wiring to get the engine to run and getting the driveshaft length right. This an over simplification, of course, but the general plan and issues people experience. It will be interesting to see what you do to get it to work. And we like details and pictures so we can live vicariously with your project and it may help someone who wants to do the same in the future.

It's just inches different and weighs in the rear over the axle and the 8.8 with slicks should have it for any prep but I'm still not sure on street [not that it's going to be used for that] but this summer I'm buying a car scale the check all 4 corners and I'll have a lots of testing to do with weight tires and gearing to get it perfect but what's a fun project with out lots of work

Middle TN? Heck we are neighbors haha. Welcome to TRS. Are you going to run it at the Hill? If so let me know and I'll come out man. If you need any help twisting wrenches I don't have much spare time but I can help where I can. Just hit me up. Looking forward to following your build.

Union Hill Racaway. I'm north of Nashville in White House. Union Hill is in the Jolton/ White Creek area. We also go up to Beach Bend in Bowling Green KY to watch the drags. Beginning of October is the Mustang/Ford Nationals. Usually a great weekend and it has a huge swap meet.
