Drove it around the yard Saturday afternoon for a few mins and it ran great!
I had to go to the parts store Sunday to get a socket head bolt for the sprocket hub and get a new airfilter.Told my 14 yr old to put the seatbelts in it but not to drive it till I got back......:annoyed:

1 step forward.....2 steps back..........:bawling:

Thanks guys!
It has a 13 hp Honda (400cc) on it now and its pretty powerful.

Cr500r engine or bust. Bit its super cool...good job. Im putting a 5 hp briggs in a mini bike.

A friend has an old snowmobile with a 600 twin 2 stroke that would be nice!
The sled is pretty much junk but the engine runs great.

That's pretty cool, a couple summers ago 2 friends and I swapped and early 80s CB400 motor into a similar frame. We were never able to take it somewhere where we could get it out of 2nd gear, then it started knocking.

Looks like the parts will run around $60 to fix it but I have to tear the whole rear end apart to install the hub,may as well order 2 main carrier bearings for the main axle be done with it.

For $60 ?? I'm sure you can come across a crotch rocket motor for that thing for that price...

awesome, i remember this thing. i wanna build one now that i have a welder

I've been holding onto an '81 Honda CB400 with 150 miles for exactly the same purpose! :icon_thumby:

Do it guys!
Ordered the parts tonight to fix it,I think I have figured out a way to replce the hub without pulling it all apart, scored a electric start kit for $130 bucks to.

glad you finally got'r going, too bad about the hub.but why'd you cut the sprocket?

them honda motors go forever....it's the same one i've got on my pressure washer, been near flawless for about 15 years now.and it was used when i got it.

I asked him the same thing, Tom. He said it was a two piece sprocket....
SVT

I have been told that two piece sprockets are stronger and when one half breaks, you just need another half. All of mine have 2 piece sprockets....
