I'm new to the website, I was a member over at ranger forums but I'm trying to broaden my horizons a bit and see what information I can find on here. I was wondering if anyone can answer a few questions that I have. I know there's a million posts on here about cheap lifts but I have sort of specific questions. I want to make my truck slightly more capable but nothing drastic, just to give it a meaner stance and let me reach more places. In any case I plan on cranking my T-bars, I'm aware of the pros and cons and how to do it but I only want to go about two inches. I bought belltech 6400's and I'm looking into tires right now hopefully I'll be able to get 2" in the rear as well. I'd like to avoid a body lift. What I want to know is:

Do I only need to buy new shocks for the rear end after lifting? Also I read up about measuring for new shocks but I don't know how to derive the right number, I measure from the shock mount to axle then subtract the distance of the shock mounts to the bump stop?

For tires I've been looking at 31" BF M/T's but could I fit 33's without a body lift? Is there some factor I'm overlooking?
(I measured the distance from the center of the wheel to the top of the fender and for height it looks like I should be alright but I don't think the well is quite long enough to fit 33's. I did read the post in the tech library about wheel sizes but It didn't clarify what I'm confused about. And I understand gears)

Will I need to get brake line extensions for the front and rear?

After installing the shackles in the rear do I need to install larger blocks to accommodate the lift?

Any help with any of these questions is much appreciated, Thanks

1.youll be fine for brake lines for that mild lift.

2.you do not need bigger blocks. that makes no sense as it would raise it further.

3.you wont fit 33's unless you plan on trimming your fenders or doing more lift.

4.even if you did 33's your gearing will affect you more than you think (might be okay with 4 10s, but still not good)

5. Welcome to the forums :)

i had 33s on my 3.73s and it was fine
and i saw a guy at one of the shops i deliver too the other day askign if he can fit 33s on t bar cranked and blocks. im assuming it worked cause i just saw him driving around yesterday with 33s on

Is ur rig automatic? U won't feel it as much. With a standard u can feel it when u have to feather the clutch every time u take off. If it is auto...u may be looking at getting a new tranny if you keep it that way for long

I'm interested in hearing answers to this question. How much lift can you give the truck before you need to install longer shocks?

I have a 5spd, if I was going to try 33"s I'd likely rather go with 4.56's. Even with proper gearing is the difference that much more noticeable? My buddy has a 3.0L 4X4 XLT with a lift and 33's and he's had to replace his rear end three time in the last two years because he never swapped out the pinion gears, needless to say his mechanic enjoys having him as a customer.

33s with 4 56s is perfect, lots of pick up, and can start in first gear without using any gas.

I'm putting 30x10x15's on mine and I putting f150 springs on it, and while I'm there I'm going to go ahead and grab the shocks too and throw them on. Oh and welcome.

On a late-model you can fit a narrow 33" like a 33x10.50-15 or 285/75-16 with just a torsion lift in the front. A 33x12.50-15 or 305/70-16 will not fit without at least a body lift.
A 31x10.50-15 will fit stock.
