My 91 POS edition:midlife crisis

Hey guys I've been kinda floating around here a little while picking up a little info here and there. Finally have gotten to the point(warm weather) where i can star refreshening my 91 DD.

The poor baby has been through alot. She's as strip down as they come. She's basically a fleet vehicle that had a dark metallic paint with what was a hideous stipe. No power steering, no a/c, originally radio delete, 5 speed stick, rubberized floor, grey vinyl bench seat with dead springs on the drivers side.

I'll get pics tonight once my wife gets back from work wit her.

I've been just keeping her rolling the six years that I've owned her. But that's all about to change. She's been amazing for me all this time . Time for me to repay the favor.

The main look that she's going to adopt is a retro rod kind of look. The paint is going to go to a flat black once i get rid of all the rust issues. It already has steel rims with dog dish hubcaps. So I'm going to polish up thr hubs and paint the steel rims a nice Marlborough red. One i can aford it i might go to white wall tires. Kind of like this but not lowered and flat paint.

Interior: i want to take out the dash eventually and some how fit in an old school t-bird dash.

I would really love to fab in the center console and the seats. But i won't hold my breath on being able to do that. But it would be awsome. And eventually i want to wood out the bottom of the truck bead like old trucks had.

Speaking of the center console since i have a stick shift where the swivel point is level with the top of tje floor hump. Would any one have a suggestion of a way to raise the swivel point to be at the top of the center console? It wouldn't have to come up a whole lot say 5-6 inches.

That will be quite a project. keep posting pics as you progress. As far as the shifter, I think you could get 2-3' with a performance shifter. "Hurst" is the name.

Cool thanks for the info on the shifter. The higher i can get the swivel point, the less of a hole I'll have to cut into the center console for clearance.

It's going to be a long process but once i get done it will be an amazing truck.

Whoa, wow those are huge on a computer. My phone shows them at a decent size. Any idea how i get them to be smaller?

You need to resize them before [or as] you are linking to them. I see they are hosted on imgur, I don't know that site so you'll have to figure that on your own. Typically you would choose an "IMG" file and make sure the pixel size is about 800x600 to 1600x1200. I use the first size because it's easier for older monitors to display.

there i dropped them to around 720p let me know if they need to go smaller. @MiniSuperDuke if your talking about the lowered black one i used as an example i don't know it i just saw it on google.

hey guys finally got to do some minor upgrades to my poor truck today. i finally found a truck like mine in the yard that wasn't a complete skeleton and an explorer that is just a few years newer(94) right next to it! i was actually after a blinker switch. mine had gone bad and wasn't allowing the headlights to work. $140 for a new one from the parts store was good incentive to bone yard it.

so i got one for $25 and a new smile for for the ranger thanks to the explorer.

off of the ranger i got a plug and play gauge cluster that had a tach in it! YAY! I have been trying to get a later explorer cluster to work. but it would have meant a rewire. i had just figured the other cluster wiring out but once i saw that this was a plug and play for $20 it was a no

i also got two new vents for the passenger side dash and a few other odds and ends. but at least my headlights work, my dash is now all put back together, and the front end doesn't scream redneck as i go down the road. baby steps.

it makes me feel good to be pulling the truck back together. eventually i'll start building up my parts supply to begin the mods that i want to someday do to it.

have you checked your rear cab mounts? from the exterior pic looks like your driver rear might be toast.

The cab and bed of my 94 didn't meet up either and the bushing has punched right through the rotten mount.
