The truck will only go 90MPH. The truck has always been limited in top speed. I got the truck new and only has 35K miles now. The truck is factory stock with no changes. Any hints for making the truck go faster. I live in Idaho, and just returned from a trip down and back on I-15 to Los Vegas, across the flat land and wide open spaces. Just looking for any solution. Frank

Get a sports car.

I know it must be really flat around there, but 90 mph is pretty damn fast. I see no need whatsoever to go over that.

My '99 4.0 tops out at 100 mph.... only did it once. Now I have the sway bars off and I dare not go over 75 on the highway. It's a truck.... not a race car.

id put a turbo on mine if i had the money but then id be to afraid to drive it. ive toped my 89 f150 at 85 and its ruff cruzin. remember the faster you go the better handeling ull need

ya homie get a performance chip it will let u reset your shifting point, rev limiter, and take off your glovener i got it on mine and it goes past 120 so i really cant see where it stops at. wouldnt suggest it enless u get suspention upgrade

The truck's computer has a speed limiter that prevents it from going over 90 mph. No modifications, except of course removing the speed limiter, will make it go any faster. Ford put the limiter on it for a good reason. They didn't do it just to annoy you. It wasn't designed to go any faster, and doing so can be catastrophic.

That being said, you can remove the speed limiter if you buy a programmer and re-program the computer.

Makes a person wonder just how fast All Terrain Tires were made to spin.

How many corvettes do you see with AT tires on them?

My point is, the tires will explode if you go faster than they are rated for.

From "Tire Rack" site

BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO
Size: 31X10.5R15
R 106 mph 170 km/h

I would say you might not want to go much faster than 90

Most likely the reason they set the limiters at under 100mph. Ford didn't have any A/T tires that could run any faster...

That and the fact there are no speed limits that high.

Being in the tire bizz. I would say most cars are not rated to go over 100mph. Yes, the tires are rated to go over that, but is the driver and vehicle able to handle that?

Not to mention yer lookin' at one hell of a fine, of course if you like gambling...

I'd recommend tradin' the Ranger for a Subaru WRX, but I don't want to encourage that sort of behavior!

HiHOSLVR... you had a wrx? i had a sti subaru 03 310hp to the wheels....drunk drive hit me and wrecked it :(..what did u have done to yours

just sell your truck and buy a modded suzuki GSXR hahaha:D i've had my truck up to 75 and since i havent had the speedo recalibrated its off by 6 mph so i'd have to say my truck would top out at around 85 and thats pushing it with a 2.3l 4 banger.
