Mustang Rear Disc Question

Seems like the larger center bore of the mustang rotors isn't an issue?

For example, Bronco II/Ranger have a drum center bore of 64.5mm, Mustang rear rotors are 71.1mm.

Not really an issue as long as the rotor bore is larger than the axle's indexing ring. The bolt holes in the rotors are a snug fit around the lug studs and, if the lug nuts are properly tightened, the rotor is solidly clamped between the wheel and the axle.

I'm sure that from an engineering standpoint indexing on the ring is important for strength, but there are a lot of setups out there where that doesn't happen. I've seen (in pictures/videos) many aftermarket axles that don't even have an indexing rig on them, they rely solely on the studs for rotor positioning and they use the same studs as any other axle would.

iirc, its only the early Rangers that have the smaller bore. The Mustang adapters, wheels, and discs that I have on my Ranger center up properly on the pilot bore.

You are correct.
Just checked...even the 4cyl 2000 rangers have a 71.2mm center bore (drum).

Thanks for the education
