Mustang owner, picking up 4x4 Ranger for a DD in a week!

Hey Guys! found this forum on a different website, and it looks like a good comunity, so i joined!

I currently have a 2000 Mustang GT 5 speed
it's got all the bolt ons, lowered, CF cowl hood, Blower Cams, 3.73's, short throw shifter, full exhaust, and my favorite, a 2.1 Kenne bell Supercharger with intercooler.

so this was my daily driver, for the past 3 years, and i've been looking for a Daily Driver for the past few months. i was going to go oldschool toyota pickup, but i came across this beauty and i'm going to pick it up this weekend!

it's a 1990 4x4 supercab auto 4.0 with a cast iron block, aluminum heads, a 9-1 compression ratio and 8.8-inch rear with ONLY 49,000 original miles on it! it was in longterm storage for the past 13 years, and this 80 year old man made a decision to part with it. let me know what you think!

I would like to put a lift on it, with some bigger and wider tires. Unfortunately I don't know shit about lifting, only about lowering lol
i've read the tech articles about some lift kits, any suggestions?
looks like the skyjacker is the way to go.

what size lift should i go with?

Really depends how nutty you want to get. It you go high make sure you get the longest drop pitman arm you can. If you just want to fit 31's you make be able to get the "high rider" brackets from the dealer and fit 31's with a good stance. One of the guys I work with did that on his gen 2 and it looks cool.

welcome , that is a beautiful looking truck , but it should be a cast block and cast heads , i know i just had to order new heads form my 98 explorer engine , and they are cast , as are the factory ones off of it

1990 - For 1990 the Ranger received an optional 4.0-liter engine with a cast iron block, aluminum heads, a 9-1 compression ratio, and produced 160 hp. 20 hp. more than the optional 2.9-liter. Both were available in 2 or 4 wheel drive with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The 4.0-liter Rangers came with an 8.8-inch rear end versus the Ford 7.5-inch rear. On a limited number of Rangers with the 72-inch bed, Ford offered as a no-cost option, a bed made from plastic composite material as a way to fight corrosion. The front axles were upgraded from a Dana 28 to a Dana 35.
