More Ranger transmission/clutch problems

A while back the slave cylinder on my 2000 Ranger started leaking. When I replaced it I went ahead and did the clutch at the same time. I still could not shift with out forcing it into gear. I figured it was the flywheel because I did not resurface it. I pulled it all apart and had it done but till had the same problem. It turned out the master cylinder was bad. I replaced that but still had problems. I pulled it apart again and found hot spots on the fly wheel from forcing into gear due to the bad master cylinder. Resurfaced it again and finally, the thing shifted beautifully. Now, it is hard to shift again and I have to force into gear after only a month and change. From what I can tell I have no leaks and the fluid in full. I pan to remove the master cylinder tomorrow and “burp” in case an air bubble formed. Before I do is there anything else I should look for? Why would it shift perfect then start this all over again?

Hot spots on the flywheel would indicate the clutch isn't disengaging all the way which is causing the hard shifting, chances are its something in the hydraulic system, You've replaced the slave and master once already, you may be better off going with a fully bled master cylinder from Perfection Clutch. personally I've never used it but I know some guys on here have bought it. Look into it.

I'm having similar issues on my 98. I replaced my master with the pre-bled Rhinopac unit from RockAuto, and a slave cyl from Advance Auto (Perfection Clutch). I vacuum bled the setup making sure to keep reservoir full and making sure not to let any air back through the bleeder. Some days it shifts perfect, but days I still have to pump the pedal a little or force the shifter.

I vacuum bled a full bottle of fluid through the system, I can't see how there could even be air in there.


Wish I could figure out why mine is still hard shifting.

Another thing to check which I completely overlooked would be the level of fluid in the transmission.

I wish I could buy one of those, But I have already soent the money on this one.

If it is air again, how? It worked great for over a month.

I will check the tranny level, I did nto think of that.
