Alright so I got my check engine light on truck runs terrible but doesn't die, when I unplug the wires from the coil I get no arc from three places. on the front(closest to radiator)coil the two on the right(drivers side) and on the rear coil the front left ,the problem used to come and go, now it stays, earlier today when it ran right I pulled the plugs at the coils and they were all firing but the front left on the rear coil pack, then it came back and the same three mentioned coil plugs weren't firing...I bought a new coil pack and replaced the front and no change still running bad with no spark from the driver side plugs in the front coil pack..HELP...thx oh yeah it's a 1994

It was the icm...150$ later...runnin like a champ now tho...every icm at the junkyard was taken off the rangers, found one on a mustang,it tested bad,so I figured these got about a twenty year lifespan and the one from autozone comes with a lifetime warranty...thx for the help and speedy responses...time to go join a diff ranger forum...

Thanks for the update...and maybe see you some time later when you realize that there is enough information on this site that you don't actually need replies...just search...CEL light would have been my first clue...check codes...

But, that's OK...there are other Ranger forums out there...

I know I used the search function also but got lots of tales about similar problems that went nowhere and confused me...that and u usually hit up the forums when u got a problem or first join it,and the rangers dont have TOO many problems,so...and also I made two or three threads trying to figure out the problem...those received no responses either

The search can be confusing and I have learned that sometimes multiple searches are needed. But that is something that is being addressed or, at least, has been covered in another thread.

I saw your thread and was going to reply earlier but my knowledge of FI systems is somewhat limited...I have learned quite a bit just by reading other threads of problems that have come up...my problem, so to speak, is there were a few changes from year to year that added or removed sensors...and I'm not quite up on what belongs where...

One of the reasons I like a carb...no sensors...no computer...but that may change very soon...so I'm trying to find out what works best and what the symptoms of what sensors I may encounter.

If nothing else, I have learned from your experience...and that is quite a bit about what makes this Ranger site so good...people share...in your case it may have just been a matter of timing...the people who normally would have jumped right in and told you what to look for were probably tied up with other things...

It happens...it's not personal...
