I have the entire harness laid out in my basement to adapt it to a dizzy/LA3 setup, so I'm trying to get everything straight before I remove all the DIS wiring.

Where is that bugger hiding at?

Your 93 does not have a MAP sensor. 92 and back had MAPs. It is a small black box about the size of a pack of cigarettes mounted on the firewall or fender(depending on model). It will have a wiring connector and a vacuum hose going to it. shady

Looks like I'll have to source one and wire it up then, thanks!

My 1990 2.3 did not have a MAP. It did however have the cali emmisions package with a MAF. I just wired one in when I put the turbo on. I think it takes VREF and SIGRTN which you can get from just about anywhere under the hood. Then you just have to run one dedicated MAP wire from the computer to the sensor.

I think I'm going to run a vref wire from the tps/egr brown/white out to where the MAF was, use two of the MAF wires for the VAF/VAT, repin the IAT to the MAP, steal the IAT sig return for both the VAM and the MAP, and rewire/repin the CPS to the IAT.

Sounds like you have a good handle on things. I needed to keep the CPS because I'm running the dual plug DIS setup.

People are so afraid of wiring and sensors but when you get into it it's not that bad at all. :dntknw:

On the turbo the sensor is called a baro sensor for barometric. It the approximate same sensor, but it measures atmospheric pressure instead of manifold pressure. No vacuum hose. Some have said they use the map sensor, just leave the hose off and have no problems. :) shady

I snagged a MAP from a BII in the yard, planning on leaving it open to atmosphere

Adding a map sensor to 93 2.3L Ranger

Can you please draw and email me a diagram of how to add a map sensor to my 93 non-turbo ranger 2 wheel drive. I am not savy to all the VREF and SIGRTN but I can follow a wiring diagram. The fuel economy on my Ranger sucks, but I love the truck.

Thanks,
Hardy
