Luck with using stock 2.8L V6 radiator with a 302.

Northern makes a V8 swap radiator, they are around $200.

I have a Superior radiator I got from eBay.fit right in no mods needed.and it's about same price as the northern one.also I have a 14" puller maradyne that fits perfectly it says it pulls about 2200 cfm.i tested it, it's pretty accurate on that #.for v8 engines with electric fan they recommend closest to 2500 cfm as possible.with research I did on it.

Also those radiators are pretty small so anything over a 14" fan will over hang on it.which won't help cooling any.

Here is one very similar to the one I am going to try in my 84, that I got on ebay for about $140. On the new 5.0 that I am putting in my truck, I am using the Explorer front end accessory drive, it should give me the clearance I need to mount my new aluminum radiator in the stock location. I am not using the stock heater box, so I can set the engine back a little farther also if needed to clear the puller fan. As I said before I have to change the radiator support to 85-88 style for this radiator to be able to bolt in, 83-84 radiator supports mount the radiator different.

Not to sound stupid (Im still new to the idea of doing the 5.0 swap. Ive been working with my 2.8L for a while now and know a good bit about it. Ive just had it with that motor. I want a upgrade) what is the explorer front end accessory drive?

Do you have a part number or anything by chance?

I have been thinking about going bigger, I just have an Explorer radiator now and it does ok, I would like to add A/C and I don't know how well it would cope with that.

I would like the radiator to sit a little farther forward so I could run a regular Explorer clutch fan AND still have room for a condenser in front of it...

All the belt drive stuff on the front of the engine. Explorer has the shortest belt OEM system, since it is made to fit in a cramped engine bay (basically the same as a '98+ Ranger) it is also pretty easy to service.

Oh ok, Cool! I thought it was some sort of front end core support replacement to fit that rad. Since the system Ill have set up will just be the crank, water, and alt. Ill only have one belt. No AC or PS.

So Im assuming the rad he got off ebay will fit just fine? Ill also be using an electric fan since I want it to be always on at the max speed or close to it. I do want to go to a electric water pump to add more space in the engine bay and fewer belts.

Yeah, I don't know how the Explorer belt drive will work with an electric pump.

I like the reliablity of a belt, right now I have both.

Do you really want the outlet to point down like that?

I went to my ebay purchase history, but the listing for the radiator I bought was not available. Just do a search on ebay for an "aluminum radiator for 85-94 ford ranger/explorer"

Not sure yet, since I haven't mounted it yet. I'll probably use flex hose for the bottom outlet, so hopefully it wont matter.
