Lubing Sway Bar Bushings and other bushings - Bad front-end squeak

I don’t think the lower bushings need to be changed. They tend to hold up pretty well.

Know what's funny? When my friend and I did my front end, we took all kinds of measurements before dismantling it. Put it back together using those measurements. I never got it aligned. I tweaked the toe-in a bit because it was off, evidently the new outer tie-rod ends are longer than the originals. We measured where the stop-nuts were. The tires appeared toed out afterwards. I just tweaked the toe-in/toe-out, using the outer tie rod ends, til I got the desired results. Haven't touched it since sometime last August. Other than that. didn't do squat. The tires that were on it when we did the work were already shot from the bad joints, but they still lasted a year after I had a friend turn the tires inside out on the rims. I put new shoes on the front in February this year. Wearing great. I run staggered tires, ,with much larger in the back then front. So the only rotation I can do is to turn them inside out every 5000 miles or so. Had my friend do that back in October. Tires looking great. Only a very minor almost unnoticeable difference between the outside and inside corners.

Let me guess, you have a problem with that? Doesn't matter to you one bit, that it turned out good in the end. You still have a problem with it. My friend has done many front ends. Says he's never had to get an alignment afterwards. Still does, but usually nothing needs changing. He just does it to verify the results are what he expected. I took the truck to three different places to get an alignment. Every fucking one said, "make an appointment". Fock them and their appointments. One dude was sittin in his office drinking coffee reading the paper. "Make an appointment". That did it. I left saying "I'll do it my fucking self". I did. It worked out great.

Due to my work, I have limited time to deal with asshats that need appointments. If I need it done and I'm talking to you, it either gets done then, or never gets done. That's it. Sit and read your paper and drink your damn coffee. You just lost a customer. It was like 10 O"clock in the morning on a Wednesday. WTF else did he have to do? Pissed me off to no ends. Lazy mfer.

If you don't like it, go fiddle with yourself.

When mine was squeaking, both the lowers and uppers were toasted to a fine finish. They were gone. Rubber boots gone on both. Now, this was 2018 and the truck was 20 years old, had around 160,000 when we did it. I chose to go with new lowers to avoid having to deal with the damn ball joints themselves. And, it obviously meant all new lower bushings as well. Everything, all done. Including new boots.

You're a man of few rods. Cat got your keyboard? ;-)

Late night, drinkin Scotch while posting. LOL!!
Dirtman is a man of very deep thoughts, but very few words.

Rut-roh! Somebody's cranky!

Y'know, sir, there's a nap for that.

I had a similar experience with my last colonoscopy... I kept randomly barging into doctors offices demanding them to perform the procedure but all I got was "sir you need to make an appointment" and "sir this is a dentist's office". So I said the hell with these so called professionals and went home and did it myself. Worked out great.

I wasn't gonna have another beer, but I think I will in honor of this post!

Find anything interesting in there?
