LSD in in open dif 8.8?

is there any type of issues with swaping the internals of the LSD rear end into my stock open diff 8.8??

assuming you get 28 spline internals and have the gears set up again you will be fine

Honestly, installing a little lunch box locker would probably be easier and cheaper. I ran a Powertrax for years with no issues. The install is easy in the open carrier and beats the heck out of setting up the gears again. Besides, in about 25-30 thousand miles and those LS clutches will be worn to the point of an open diff again anyway.

i second that.

my 31 spline 8.8 is LS. and i'm swapping in an open carrier so i can run my aussie. might look into the same, or better yet, a detroit!

well i can pick up the internals from one for like 100 bucks and then i could just replace the clutches in it for ?????? but anyway what are some other budget rear end builds that i can drive everyday without having any issues?

more info would be greatly appreciated

Add one side gear washer/shim for ~$5.00 and get posi. I've done this to a d-28 and a 9". The 9" still turns corners great and when you punch it you get posi. When you do this to the front axle it doesn't like cornering when in 4x4, it tends to want to go straight. Great for a bogger or rock crawling.
