Lowering the Rear

Anyone just lower the rear of a 2WD? I have a 2020 XLT not crazy about raising the front, but would be interested in just lowering the back. Thanks.

Yes, lots of people lower the backs of trucks to make them level. I was thinking of doing it to my ranger snd my nissan titan

I was hoping to find a kit for just the rear. I see they have full lowering kits but nothing I’ve found for just the back.

The only way to lower the back of a 2wd is to do an axle flip really. Problem with that is you get too much drop and welding is required. So then you get into all sorts of things. The 4x4 Rangers got a lift block in the rear and I think the 2wd Edge and Trailhead editions got the lift block in the back too. If there’s a lift block between the axle and the spring, then removing that will get you lower. If there’s no lift block, then an axle flip is your next step but if you don’t want to be into frame notch territory you’ll need heavier leaf springs and a longer shackle. I did that to my green Ranger (it was a 4x4, now it’s AWD) and the back is still a little too low. Heavier leaf packs and no shackle ride height ended up being on the bump stops. That’s frame notch territory. Longer shackle (technically sold as a lowering shackle for some Chevy and Ford full size trucks, actually lifts our trucks) and even heavier pack and it’s still a tad low because it can hit the bump stops sometimes. There is really no kit because flipping the axle (or even using an Explorer 8.8 like I did that has the spring perches on the other side of the axle) requires cutting the perches off and re-welding.

if you flip the rear hanger/shackle assy it might lower the body a bit, or do that & use longer shackles. Not much room before you hit the bottom of the bed though.

2019+s don't come with blocks.. and how the shackles are situated make things a much bigger pita than on the older ones... a flip might be the only option but then the front would definitely have to come down to match.

No one here has that I know of. There has to be lowering kits out there somewhere by now. I doubt looking at my 2019 would help any since it's a 4X4 and has the FX4 package to boot. Quite a bit of stuff has been put out there by the aftermarket for these trucks and they are close enough to the T6 Ranger sold around the world since 2012, that you might find something that will do the job.

It's been done and there are kits available for lowering those Rangers in general. I don't know about back only, but I'm sure that is available too. I hate to send people elsewhere, but this time I think you might find better help there. Quick google search reveals a bunch of lowered 2019+ Rangers out there. I saw several results pointing to a Ranger5G forum which is dedicated to those Rangers.

I lowered the back of my 2003 Ranger Edge by one inch. It turns/handles better.
