Ok so here's my predicement, I have a stock 2wd Ranger 94' and would like to get it a little lower to the ground without spending a whack of money and losing any ride quality. Im going to be putting a 302 in the front which is about 100lbs heavier than the V6 in it now and I supposse that might give me an inch lower in the front.. But the rear sits soooo high its almost ugly. Is there any shanckle and hanger kit that will give 2in drop in the back and not 4in? Not looking to ground the thing but just loose some of the excess space between the rear wheel wells. Prolly gonna stick with a set of Moog coils for the front and just keep the front suspesion stock if possible.

Can you just use a drop hanger with the use of a stock shackle to only give it a 2in drop instead of 4in?

And if anyone can point me in the direction of a decent kit to buy that would be great.. thx.

flip the factory shackle over. you grind the rivets off and swap them side for side and bolt them on upside down compared to stock. this points the shackle up instead of down and gives about 2in of drop.

awesome.. just looked at Zman's tech article and gonna try it out soon! thx.

glad I could help. its nice and simple to do and costs less than 20 if you have all the tools.

Oh I definitely have the tools, but a quick look underneath and I found that the driver side shackle has been eaten away from oxidation.. Not much left holding it in place lol, however the passenger side is near mint.. Oh well whats another 60 bucks in parts if they last another 15 years haha.

there ya go, instead of buying a drop kit you can buy the shackle and hanger and just put it on upside down. fix a part you have to fix and get your drop.

I would say do the shackle flip and go with a set of 2" Belltech drop coils from illusivefabrications.com :)

Those coils look good, but would that mess with the front wheel camber? How staggered would a 17x8 rim be with those

yea you will need an alignment after the truck is lowered, I reccomend installing +- 4 degree camber caster eccentrics from NAPA part # 264-3950 and then take the truck to the alignment shop to have everythign corrected. I don't know what you mean by staggered?

hmm ya i figured something else would be needed.. ok that sounds like a good plan!! Ill prob get all the parts together this winter when the money situation is better haha. thx for the help.
