In the logical thought process of lower=less air passing underneath=better downforce, I was wondering if lowering Rangers to more car-like heights noticeabley improves aerodynamics in the form of fuel economy as theres not a comparabley mountain-sized ammount of air passing underneath at speed.

I'm asking about stock body, not with aero bodykits added.

Side question- whats the stock ride height of a '93-'97 Ranger?

most lowered rangers get a bump in mpg but most people dont keep the wheels and tires they had before the drop so there are other factors to the claim.

Seeing as lowering limits overall size, I don't see there being a massive difference, so some extent.

Do you know the stock ride height?

MSN autos gives ride heights. I found that over the years ride height has increased. If I remember right, my 2009 has about 2" more ground clearance than my 1995 did.

I am in the process of gathering parts to lower my 2009 by 2" for a variety of reasons, one of which is squeezing a little more mileage out of it. I can report back on the change in mileage, though it could be a little while before I have any info.

Found info on MSN autos, but not for the year I'm workin with and like you said it seems it changes often. =/

When you get some first hand info on the possible increase in mpg let me know :icon_thumby:

theres less dirty air under a 9 then a 95.

the lower the better regardless:icon_thumby:

I knew there would be a difference, my inquiry was twofold:

1. If a driver would see any -noticeable- gain in mpg.

2. What the stock ride height of a '94 ext cab is so I'd know how low it would be if I lowered it if/when I get to it.

You'd think with the invention of things like the Internet, a simple trip to Google would net me my second answer, but no. lol

theres serious days worth of reading on this if you know the password.

cant give you that dude.:thefinger:

XP :thefinger:

Don't suppose you'd use your vast knowledge of passwords to find me the exact ride height of a '94, now would ya? :D

no.....cant get back that far on current system and my key is expired anyway.

I would express my dismay of hearing this, but all you'd see is some asterisks. D:

Ah, computer databases. Anything older than a decade is a dinosaur and therefore not worth including in said database.
