i got a 87 ranger 2.3 fuel injected needs a motor

spare 87 2.3 turbo motor out of a thunderbird

the n/a motor has 9.5/1 compression ratio where the turbo motor has 8/1

other than just being weak would it hurt anything to use the lower compression ratio motor?

it will only be drove for maby 3-4k miles before i can park it again untill i finish the turbo install on it

8/1 is fine, engines that will be using a turbo charger often are only 8/1, and the turbo is not "on" all the time, so it is fine.

Boosted engines typically do run a lower compression ratio. A low compression engine with no boost will run very weak. However it will run well enough to get you by. On the bright side it will start very easy.

Use a higher octane additive in your fuel and that'll help offset the lower compression ratio with no boost. That's what I do when I know I won't run my engine hard.

Another thing you can do is to run a thinner head gasket. If I'm not mistaken, running a thinner gasket will raise the compression ratio--but by how much, I don't know.
