Carb or EFI? If using a carburetor, find the linkage from a mid 80's Crown, Marquis, or Lincoln that had throttle body fuel injection. The linkage is like the kickdown rod of a C4, but is adjustable so you can get the correct line pressure for the AOD. You'll have to do some rigging if you plan to use a carb. You can't just hook it to the kickdown lever. The rod needs to travel with the throttle lever. If you don't get the line pressure right, you could burn up the transmission.

HTH,

Pete

Bang in the lip seam on the firewall/trans tunnel with a BFH.

Guessing you don't have a body lift?

You have maybe 1/8" clearance to sneak the AOD bell housing between the trans tunnel and radius arm cross member, and that is when it's positioned correctly. I used a transmission jack... The stars, sun, and moon need to be in alignment to get it in gracefully (without a body lift).

this is ironic I was just asking a friend how he did the aod in his old pickup and he used a lokar cable and bracket and adjusted the line pressure with the cable he said it was a little bit of a pain to get the pressure right cause even the slightest adjustment made a big difference.
I believe he said the pressure was set to 31 psi but don't take my word for sure.call a GOOD tranny shop and ask them or tow it to them so they can do it.
also a hardened input shaft is a really good idea for the aod if you plan to add hp.

thanks alot very big help acually clearence isnt going to be a problem just yet the cab is of the truck. in running an EFI 5.0 HO motor. do you kno if i will need to resize my drive shafts on a 4X4 or they will stay the same.

Once you get the bell housing past the radius cross member, it will sit in there like it was meant to be there.. :)

I used the Lokar components that flaminrangeris referring to; also requires the throttle cable to complete the kit, but can be worked around. Will need a set of pressure gauges. May not bee to happy with how the bracket (SRK-4000) is held down on the carb. But it does work...

ight i did a little research the AOD 4x4 adaptor adds 9 inches on te tail end making it sit in a ford a4ld trans spot so i kno in going to have to move the crossmember back a little. my question is if i just use grade 8 bolts is that strong enough to hold the tranny and the tork. also a auto 4x4 broncoll drive shafts should be the same as a 83 ranger shout bed right. has anyone used the adaptor form advanced adaptors wana kno if its easy to put on or if i should have a shop do it.

Are you asking if grade 8 bolts are strong enough to hold the crossmember to the frame?

Yes, plenty strong.
