Buying my first ranger and have no experience buying trucks, going tomorrow morning to do the deal.

Is $10500 too much for a 2006 Ranger Sport 4x4 with 80k? It's one owner, at the same Ford dealership where the old guy bought it, just back traded in.

My budget is 10k, seems around here for 7-9k you can get an 03-04 with same milage or a low mile 2008 for 14k..been shopping for months.

Also, $1000 1 year 20k warranty from ford worth it?

Thanks

The milage is good. I have seen 06 4x4 regular cabs Rangers going for $7k around here at times with low miles. Is this a supercab or extended cab? You really need to price Craigslist and see what they are gong for in your area. Don't buy the first thing you see unless you are 100% sure this is what you want, Bro.

never pay what the dealer is asking right off the top. offer them 8k or so. see where it goes..

look around. check out http://www.autotempest.com/ it searches craigslist, ebay, cars direct, cars inc...and whatever else all from one search.

I never believed in the warranty because there is a huge mark up for the dealer so the value is taken by them [thats why they push them so hard]If you brake down you have to go and ask for your money back.

if it was what your really wanting id go for it. forget the extended warranty though, i paid more for my '93 than i should have, but it was what i really wanted, ive still got it 10 years later and it was half of what a new one would have been (at the time, comparitivly equipped) personally id never get a reg cab, ive had 2 supercabs now, and that extra cab space is worth it.

Thanks for the advice guys, picked it up this weekend. It's an extended cab, with a tonneau cover, the exact color I wanted, interior literally looks brand new and it's a 1-owner vehicle. I've been shopping and pricing for months and got an excellent deal for my area.

Anyway, really like the truck, can't wait to throw some bigger tires on it. Getting the coolant system flushed tomorrow and servicing the tranny. Any suggestions on tranny fluid for these trucks, or should I just use the regular Ford recommended stuff?

Just use the Ford stuff in the trans. There are no true "synthetic" tranny fluids like people are used to having with engine oil.
