We have a 99 Ranger 2WD with 3.0L in it. That is daily driver in good shape and has only the occasional need for some work. It is the 87 BII that been getting rehabbed that we mostly mess with.

My word1998 range extended cab four wheel drive all of a sudden has no reverse. The forward gears work fine.

Post in the Urgent help needed for more specific things that are in progress and if you need immediate help on it...the introduction section doesn't get as much attention...

Also be sure to specify what engine/transmission you have...helps to know sometimes if there are known issues...like an automatic tree shifter...one guy recently found that his shifter was loose under the dash...but I think he lost lower drive gears and not reverse...

Anyway...if you can post this in an appropriate thread you will get answers quicker...

i know it says 98 rangers but i have a 99 ranger 2.5L SOHC 4cyl

I have a 98 Ranger Splash 2.5L. it has 120,000 miles and I am the original owner. I just had the trans out to replace the slave cylinder and clutch while I was there.

Ahoy, 1998 Ranger! I've got one too! Extra Cab, 4x4, 5 speed, 4.0 Liter, 235K+ miles and running like a champ. Just put a water pump and new fan in today. Lots of info here on common problems with the 1998 and similar years.
