Hey guys......Good morning, my name is John Berning (Spokane, WA) and I have a sweet little 1996 B2300 2WD. Would love to do a 4L V6 or a 5.0 swap and I lost contact with a custom shop in Sandpoint, ID. If anyone knows this fellow or wants to offer any comments on the 4.6 vs the 5.0 in a daily driver, I would appreciate it. Please feel free to mail me direct at johnny556@yahoo.com, Thanks in advance!

Honestly no real point to doing a 4.0 swap, the 5.0 is the same amount of work so it would cost the same if you're having a shop do it. The 4.6 however does not fit easily in a ranger, its a much larger engine than the 5.0 and would require a ton of custom work. I'd just go with a explorer 5.0, they are cheap, plentiful, and for the most part a direct bolt in swap on a ranger.

Yup. What he^^^ said.

Sorry........I meant 4L V6 vs 5.0! Are you saying that both of those are fairly direct bolt in swaps?

Yup easy swaps for both but you will need ALL the wiring and computer from the donor truck for either engine. And like I said, both swaps are pretty much equal work so I usually say why not just go with the 5.0?
