Looking for a lower end security system

SO glad I found that
Can't wait to get it!
Just check out the full details from Avitals site. Exactly what I wanted and such a great price! Hope anyone else looking for an alarm sees this

what does everybody have to say for that one? I have the money for that one right now

Install price varies greatly, but the standard is about $100 for a basic install.

Don't mean to hijack but I'm sure this is info anyone could use. Are there places you should shy away from for having an alarm installed? Best Buy, Car Toys, etc.
Do some places do a better job than others?

baxtej44, a basic alarm is keyed power, constant power, ground, to siren, siren ground, door light wire, parking lights, LED, valet switch, antenna. And then sometimes there are other sensors, but they're often plug and play (just like the LED, Valet, and antenna), and thats pretty much it unless your going to do door locks.

there not hard to install. just a lil time consuming. and as i said before, Avital is

hm... sounds like it'd be better if i had some help, well i've got a couple of contacts i could work through, so i'm thinking i'm gonna keep that model in mind... especially if i can find it brand new for that price as well! thanks for all the help guys, i'm pretty much decided on that model, even though it's not an automatic starter, i'll get over it...

would it be a hassle to install an auto start later on?

Sorry, baxtej44
I didn't realize you wanted remote start, my truck is a manual so I wasn't even thinking about it.

baxtej44, if you want a remote start/alarm combo, save up for it, you can't get ANY return trying to install a used/installed alarm.

i'm just not really sure if i want a remote start or not... i don't find it to be such a hassle in the winter to go out for less than a minute and turn the key...

and summertime, well it's hot, but i usually use a sun visor and that helps a ton

Well it sounds like you don't really need a command start, and to be honest I don't like using command starts in the winter cause I like to know how well or badly my truck started.

also true.. good point on that one!

i think i may just go with the security...

either the one that's listed recently, or another one with 2 way lcd remote, shock sensors, starter kill, dome light supervision (what exactly is that? most have them so i included it), probably no keyless entry.

Dome light supervision will turn on the dome light when the doors are unlocked, Keyless entry is really nice, and it's not hard to wire up, as long as you don't mind running wires into your doors, and installing the actuators.

yeah idk, i don't think i'd mind it as it'd probably be a good learning experience with some electrical...

i'll have to keep stewing over this.
