It's time to replace shocks. I replaced the original shocks with KYB Excel-G shocks at around 130,000 miles, and now at 206,000 miles the Excel-G shocks are worn out. No leaks. Just very poor damping. These shocks were what I expected for a standard aftermarket replacement. If anyone is looking for daily driver shocks I would recommend Excel-G shocks. However, I often go wandering on graded forest roads throughout California, Oregon and Nevada. Most of these roads are passable by normal 2wd vehicles without a problem. But, I often come across sections that are rocky or have washed out ruts that are really rough crossing, occasionally causing the suspension to hit the bump stop, then enough bounce back hard enough to throw things off the front seat at times. My question is, has anyone used the KYB Gas-a-Just shocks, or another equivalent? I'm intersted in know how the firmness in these shocks feel when driving on urban roads that are in bad shape and well as how they perform when going over rough dirt roads on the way to a trailhead or campsite.
