long time lurker first time poster

[98singlecab]

i recently purchased a 98 ranger single cab with a 2.5l . it has 159k 5spd.
2 questions. first is when i slow down for a red light and have the clutch in the motor revs up on it's own for about 5-8 seconds then goes back down to idle.

second. my ac is on when the switch is off and when i do turn the ac on i can hear my ac cycle quicker than normal.

any thoughts

sounds like you may have a vacuum leak,possibly.Try spraying some brake parts cleaner around some of your vacuum hoses,and if the engine idles up or rough,that could be the source of your problem.Good luck

For the high idle your iac could be sticking take it off and spray it with parts wash. I had the same problem, the iac was the problem at first, but then it got out of control and I ended up having to replace the tps as well.
