Lets talk about: WHEEL WINCHES

Not very practical if your truck has a limited slip or posi-trac rear differential LOL. They do work, but how easy is it going to be to jack up your truck to install this winch when you are stuck in a mud hole somewhere?

they used to sell a similar product through JC Whitney many years ago. Have seen some utube things with similar aspects. As stated its for self retrievel or pulling something in if you need a winch dont have one but can jack up a vehicle. I would guess its better than nothing and if you are stuck and have one well it would be a good thing. The whitney one did not have the guide piece like this one has I dont think.

My mistake you don't have to jack up the vehicle you just attach it using the lug nuts already on the vehicle, but still if the vehicle is buried in mud I hope you don't lose the lug nuts in the process.

Now if only they made the log splitter that attaches to those lug nuts too.

Lightly stuck vehicle I think it would be ok. But why not just put the money toward an actual winch. Seems like to much stress on rear axle components to me.

If you have a locker in the axle it would work but if you are open or l/s the opposite wheel would just spin as soon as you got tension in the line. You would need one on each side.

I think people are misinterpreting how these work, as I doubt they're supposed to be used in deep mud or ice where there's no traction anywhere. But Rather when one wheel has traction, as in an off-camber situation, where the opposite tire still has plenty of grip. Open or L/S, it'll work as long as the opposite tire still has something to grab. Locked it'll work even better.

It has it's applications, and depending on how much it actually costs might be a bargain compared to a big 'ol winch, which you have to figure in the costs to mount and wire/plumb that sucker too.

This comes in a bag and is ready to go.

I'm impressed with it.

I dont have a winch. I don't go that far off road. I do have a good 2 ton come along and all sorts of chains and cables and stuff. And shovels. The wheel capstans are pretty hokey for this day and age. But that sand anchor was pretty cool :D

some of these comments are pretty funny... you dont need to take the lug nuts off when youre stuck, you put their specially made lugnuts on *before* you get stuck. the wheel winch locks onto those lugnuts. the description in the vid even says it comes with enough of everything to do both sides. doesnt matter if your diff is locked, open or somewhere in between when youre pulling with both sides. doesnt look like the best solution IMO but it definitely should do what they claim it does. only real benefit is the assumption that the kit should be substantially cheaper than a winch. plus they're pretty easy to set up and use, and easily movable from one vehicle to another.

I can't stop laughing....
That's insane!
