2005 f150 xlt, 4.6, I just replaced the output line from the reservoir to find out it was just the minor leak, the rack and pinion is leaking badly, within 20 miles I was empty.

Anyone ever replace/rebuild one of these units or have similar problems? (Leak is on drivers side, haven't seen specific part of rack to see where its coming from yet).

Really just trying to see if its worth the effort to do it myself with ramps and hand tools, or just take it to a garage.

Jack stands would be a better idea than ramps. Getting the rack out is made a lot easier by having the front wheels off.
