well i finally have my d35. havent been able to find one with 4.10's locally, so i settled on a 3.73 since my dad needed a 3.73 diff anyways. now all im looking for is a diff or gears, since i can ship something smaller that opens up my search a little. started the tear down to inspect whats there, most of it looks like its in pretty good shape. one shock mount stud was broken on one of the new radius arms. ill use my old ones for the time being and lengthen the other ones, ill probably replace the studs with tabs. it looks like ill be able to use my current brake lines and calipers, undecided if im gonna buy new bearings and rotors or if in gonna try to get by with what i have (the truck's not a daily driver, it only gets a few thousand miles a year max. im not too worried about reusing stuff like that) i will also be getting stuff figured out so i can do an alignment myself. no more of this paying for someone that doesnt know what theyre doing to try to align my truck and still not having it right. i'm gonna do it, and im gonna do it right.
i built this nifty little tool to help pulling my spindles from the knuckles. i guess you can buy these things but my dad and i scrounged up the stuff in the garage. it's an old auto hub nut, a piece of 2" exhaust tube, a heavy 1/2" washer and a random castle nut that fit the threads on the slide hammer. a few mins behind the welder to burn things together. well worth the time, highly recommended you make/buy one of these before you try to pull your spindles again!
oh and still trying to stick with the budget theme. $75 for the axle, hub to hub.
