Just wondering about the 1000watts RMS

I used them when I was in competition back in 97-98, and no other could come close to them...I have all old school amps, and there website ( www.usamps.com ) don't have a link to them anymore. This is the closest I could find to the specs of what I have...I have the 1999 models, not all of them are there, but you get the idea

The VLX-400 is the largest amp in the world (at the time of production 1999), measuring in at 44 inches long, power is fed my four 8 gauge power and four 8 gauge ground wires, and speaker wires are four 8 gauge wires, all coming out of the amp for hard wire. With a power consumption of 400 amps at 1 ohm at 12 volts, this amp is capable of 1/4 ohm mono, and with every volt increase above 12 volts, these amps will produce aproximately 30% more power, so at 14 volts the actual power at 1 ohm mono is 3840 RMS watts, 7680 @ 0.5 ohm mono, and 15,360 RMS watts @ 0.25 ohm mono :icon_surprised: Most of you may call BS, but for those that know US Amps, they are a power house!! Go to the12volt.com and ask them about the old school US Amps, the famous VLX-400 and see what they say!!

bet that wasent cheap!!!

just did some research of that vlx-400, not doubting you or trying to degrade that amp, but all i could find was stable to .5 ohm and around 3600rms, still no small amp, but not nowhere the 15000 rms you posted.

After doing some research, I was off of the power numbers, but is still up there. Highest I have seen so far is 5600 at 0.5, but I have heard of competitors getting 9600 out of this amp, here are a couple links. It is only factory rated @ 2400 @1 ohm mono @ 12.6 volts with 0.006 THD, but it is very under rated
