Hey everyone, new to the forum I just bought a '94 Ranger XLT 4.0L V6 from a guy living beachfront in NC. He told me the truck mostly sat in his driveway for some years which explains the rust on EVERYTHING. The truck runs flawlessly after changing fluids, a gasket, and other things but I'm wondering how I can go about getting rid of all the rust. I've looked at a rust removing spray from eastwood that's about $40 a gallon but hoping one of you has a better idea for me. I'm really looking to just clean up the frame rails and the suspension.

it's just surface rust, right? shouldnt be anything too hardcore unless he was driving on the beach and in the water and never cleaned it.

i'd use some sort of rust spray, wire brush the bad spots and then paint the frame to seal it up

lets see some pics of this rust and we will be able to help alot better

awesome a spray sounds good, it's been raining here the past few days so i'll get pics as soon as i can.

wire wheel on a grinder and rust check or POR 15

get a wire wheel on a grinder. spray her with some black tremclad rust paint on the frame and whatnot. will look MINT after that go to a local rustcheck or crown nad get an oil spray to keep it nice

Think I'll go with the POR 15 from eastwood, its a quicker fix that doesn't involve a grind wheel. Normally I would go all out to fix my truck up but finding time for it has proven difficult for me lately. The POR 15 is perfect for me right now, thanks guys.
