just plain stupid, doing a sbc swap w/blackwidow

:stirthepot:arms crossed.....:stirthepot:

Now you need to condence all 46 pages into a short build thread. =P

I'm back.....hmmmm.....didn't realize I was gone!

anyhow.....gonna take a look at your build site!

blackwidow............Just an Update............the '36 Ranger has 10,000 miles on the engine since it was installed....it ran a little hot in July thru September, but the spare radiator that I mounted between the spare tire/bed cooled with an electric fan solved that problem.....

HAZMAT triggered my memory......

Blackwidow67 & I started our V8 swaps about the same time in this same thread to see who would get done first back in 2009.....

seems like we yakked for 25 pages before we got anything accomplished....

Blackwidow later posted a separate build thread and moved all his pics.....

I finally posted my pics in this thread starting on page 26

UPDATE: the V8 has 20,000 miles on it since the swap!

Wow y'all started the swaps back in '09? Doesn't seem like it's been that long since you started building the thing.

yep......time flies.....I put 20,000 miles on the OEM 2.9L until the under-hood electric modules(never-ever pressure wash an old truck engine!) started going bad one by one......and another 20,000 since the V8 swap.....of course everything took twice as long to accomplish being on the V.A. meds........ :icon_rofl:

Well then what have they been slipping me? Next February will three years since I bough my 86 to rebuild, and since I bought the V8 donor. I'm just starting on pulling the wiring harness from the donor to swap into the Ranger. Not even close to being ready for the engine yet. I really miss driving a first gen.

see.....it only took a month for me to reply.....I had about 200 feet of unused harness wire left over after the V8 swap.....SAVE IT.....comes in handy when doing mods....just draw a colored wiring diagram of any splicing that you do for reference later on.....

UPDATE:

BROKE a weld on the fabricated motor mount plate that bolts to the crossmember on the passenger side.....

No problem.....easy to get to under the truck.....

need to remove the mount/plate...reweld it moar better....reinstall....

Pics when it's getting fixxxed.......

:yahoo:
