Hello again all,

A couple months ago I picked up a 2002 Ranger 4x4, 4.0 with a 5 speed. It only has 30,000 miles on it and is in great shape.

I've heard of a few different things that can go wrong on these year Rangers. My question to you guys is if you think there are any maintenance items I should do now (being as the miles are so low) that might save me in the long run?

Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Dave

At 30K the trans fluid, coolant, and power steering fluids should all be changed, but other than that, just the normal stuff. Oil and rotate every 5K, the major fluids every 30K, and the rear diff between 75 and 100.

Change the transfer case lube too. It takes regular Mercon ATF. The manual says to change it at 60k but it will look like tar by 30k. I would change the axles lube too simply due to age. The rear you can do yourself if you are reasonably handy (get a Lube Locker gasket), the front you must go to a qwicky-lube to have done with a suction machine. Valvoline here does them for $49.95 each and frankly at that price it's not worth the bother of doing the rear myself either.
