Has anyone done this. I can find a lot of info on using a Dana 30 from a TJ but there not the same. I know it’s probably not the first choice but since I can get one for free it worth exploring. Thanks

So, a TJ axle is 60.5" WMS to WMS, a JK has a WMS to WMS of at least 63.5" as JK was 3" wider than TJ. Your Ranger's WMS to WMS is 58.5".

1" difference in width from front to back isn't really noticeable; 2-1/2" is, that's why it isn't common swap.

I think a JK is actually 65.25”. That was my big concern also. I have wheel spacers on mine now to change to a Jk lug pattern because I’m running my old Jk rims. I’ll have to look but I think they re only 1” each. So still 2.5” per side.

so I found this. I should have a 59.5” axle stock.
