Jerky Shift

I just bought a 2010 ranger, and I am trying to break it in very carefully. Unfortunately, I was shifting into second, and my foot slipped off the clutch before i could get on the gas smoothly. The clutch was fully depressed when I shifted into second, the problem came when I let off the clutch with no gas, because my foot slipped. The result was obviously a jerky shift. I could not hear a grinding noise, but I heard a straining noise from the transmission once I got on the accelerator. Can these jerky shifts damage the transmission? Or am I over-thinking this one time incident? :icon_thumby:

Any suggestions, or information would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

I beat the tar out of mine, and so do most RBV owners I know. She's good for it. You're not hearing anything different than before, it's you trying to listen for something.

Much Thanks

Thank you for the advise, I guess I'm still in that paranoid frame of mind because she's still so new.

Thank you again

I am pretty sure that it will be ok. I get rubber on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift every once in a while and my truck never complains. It has over 350000 miles on it too.

Should be perfectly fine. I wouldn't worry about it at all (cant blame you though!)

Good luck w/ your new truck

Here's how I see it:

You probably didn't manage to damage anything since this is a pretty stout trans. If you did, you will know for sure soon enough.

If you did damage something..... its still under warranty.
