"Jeep" prerunner front ends

I have seen pictures of Jeeps with the very high front end prerunner bumper. I love the look and think it would not only be nice to mount lights on, but useful as well for front end location and sliding during my typical "old man slide it up an obstacle" type four-wheeling. My "general" question pertains to legal issues in Cali...Any help would be appreciated.

when i lived in southern california, i never had issues or heard of anyone with issues with bumpers. now with tires on the other hand, people did have preoblems then.

You can be sure somewhere in the California vehicle code there is some obscure law forbidding the modification of bumpers in any way. That said, it will never get enforced by a traffic cop if you do buy/build one.

Thanks - I hadn't heard that term before, and it is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks to everyone - now I can focus the search!

nope he said third from the right. But ya that is a stinker and it helps the truck not flip over when coming down a steep decline.

Its also supposed to keep the hood from smashing in on the engine in the event of a roll over.
