like the title says...4" xj coils, will i be able to get the beams to drop enough to slip them in or will i need a spring compressor? im running 2.5" tuff country pivot drops, payment sent for RA drops, 3 1/4* camber bushings(i know i need ext ra's to get the most out of em, but ill have to make some). im hoping i can get them in without probs. i want to go ahead and get them in before my new years run. even with ra drops i know theyll flex more then my spacers and stock ra brackets...at ride height the ra is almost maxd. just wanna make sure i have everything i need to put em in, once its apart there no trips to the parts store unless i walk lol. picking up 1 1/2" npt flange tomorrow

i'm not sure. you can loosen the RA bolt to gain some more flex to stuff the coil in. but keep in mind that you will need to make some small changes as you put them in. I noticed i needed a bigger spring retainer for the bottom of the coil. and the top i couldn't get to sit flush, tho others have said it fits right in.

make sure your brake lines are long enough too!

the more i think about it, the more i say no. my jeep coils measure 21in free length, (4in i think) and with my skyjacker six in, and skyjacker extended arms, i still have to push the beam down, and kinda spin the coil to fit in.

aight ill rent a compressor, already have brake lines, went up to summit and picked them up today, and a drop pitman, already have jhooks for upper retainer, and have some spare washers from when i got some to level my side to side, so ican use them as lower retainers

thanks

sounds like your on the right track! keep us updated dude! i wanna see some before and after pics. and flex numbers!

what does your xj springs measure to free length?

My XJ coils free length measured 21 inches and they are 6.5 inch lift and are said from the website they come from to be 150ppi. I know mine are on a SAS but the weight of a ranger is the weight of a ranger.....and yes I know that a TTB puts more pressure on the coils then a soild axle.

havnt measured em yet, went to summit last night to pick up some carb jets and a bowl gasket, and found superlift 4" xj coils for 89.95, i knew i had to buy em at that good of a price. scratch and dent. saw em layin out on a table, and said those look like jeep springs, got closer and was like shit sure are in the buggy u go:headbang:

The problem would be on the drivers side when the drive line hits the cross brace.

I think he meant the driveshaft hitting the x-brace. But your radius arm drop backets probably lower the x-brace 2.5" too.

I found disconnecting the sway bar, caliper, and lower shock mount make the job much easier.

On both my trucks (dd w/ 2.5" lift and sj radius arms, trail rig w/ 6" sj ranger coils and homebrew radius arms, niether use axle drop brackets) I get so much droop that the top of the spring pulls out of the bucket. I added spring retainers and I'm gonna get some limit straps for both.

yea i got the ra drops from tony raine...i believe he said they were rough country from the 4" lift. my d-shaft was hitting the ra xmember with spacers at about 2.5"-2.6" lift

from my measurements with a drop pitman for a 4" kit my steering will be perfectly level, so hopefully it will cut down on the wierd stuff associated with them

With a spring that soft I'm guessing your going to have steering problems.

from reading about every post from 4x4 junkie and everything else about ttb steering and in the faq for softer springs, its not the springs that make the steering funny and big camber changes, they just amplify them. the problems will still be there with rbv springs running high lift. its the tall angles the tre's(mainly short drivers side) are running that causes alot of toe change, which in turn jacks the suspension and changes the camber. as long as the steering remains mostly horizontal there wont be any problems. with the ttb everything has to be as flat as possible. if i have to ill get the 4" drop pitman and if it dont work ill do some measuring and either go with the extreme drop or stonecrusher setup. u have to remember these springs will only give me about 3" of lift over stock

i havent found anything on the spring rate, but i did find where they "thought" they were 150ppi and im kinda worried about it. i run a sway bar on the street and have quick disco's and my shocks are stiff as hell, so im pretty sure with correct steering i should be fine

btw thatguy i finally got a new u joint...from a 92 explorer 4.0 m/t(the one they tried to sell me for a b2 was tiny!) fixed my problem. i think someone put the wrong u joint in it or something, the new one slid halfway in the ears fairly easily, but required some good wacks to get them seated right, so when the clips are in they are nice and tight with no movement. u were right the first time, the needle bearings were dust

i still think you will run into steering issues. I went from a 4in lift skyjacker kit (with 4in rbv coils) and a rough country 4in drop pitman, to the same setup but with these jeep coils which were maybe an inch higher.

i didn't change any steering from skyjacker to jeep and it was absolutely un drivable. my steering was fairly flat, not perfect but pretty flat. the issue was the soft jeep spring let my front end lift up and the steering wouldn't let it come back down... damn camber. lol.

stonecrusher style steering and its worthy of the highway. even without shocks.. :icon_surprised:

how was your toe and caster, that has alot to do with it. did u have a sway bar? i think thats gonna be the helping factor in my setup, i like to keep mine on since i got a newborn that rides in the b2. offroad i pull my pins and its disco'd. ill also be making a hill strap like 4x4junkie

and with the steering not letting the front come back down sounds like toe change. a small change will be exagerated by the softer springs. the whole thing is the toe changing and the tires point to each other on take off and it jacks the suspension, on stopping the opposite happens
