Is This a Transfer Case Vent Hose on a ’92 Ranger?

Thought I posted this yesterday, but can’t find the thread now. Apologies if it’s a duplicate.

So as mentioned, I have a 1992 Ranger Custom 4x4 with the 4.0 and A4LD trans. While poking around under the truck, I found this rather silly looking rubber hose sticking off of the front of the transfer case, near the top:

Because it was practically falling off anyway, I took it off and exposed this fitting underneath:

The fitting kind of reminds me of a bleeder, but I’m assuming that the rubber line is some kind of vent to allow for the passive removal of excessive gases and pressure from within the case. Can anyone verify? Thanks!

Yes it's a vent, on the newer transfer cases it has a molded elbow

Gotcha, thanks for confirming. Since I’m never going to find a molded hose for this truck online, what do most folks do to replace these when they dry rot?

Take a piece of rubber hose, clamp one end onto the transfer case fitting, and find somewhere out-of-the way to zip tie the other end to?

The one on the truck I have now (the 94) has a steel bracket that holds the rubber tube up above the transfer case and on the side of the transmission.

I have a 98 transfer case in my shed and it's just has a molded rubber 90 and plastic tubing up about 4" no clamps.
