I have been looking for a small regular cab or single cab Ranger with the 4.0 v6 207hp in it and i have not been able to find it. I have only found a 4x4 Ranger. Does anyone have a Ranger single cab with the 4.0 v6 in it 207hp. The 4.0 207 hp is the strongest motor in the older Rangers Right?

I also have another question but may post in another thread. Would it cheaper to do an engine swap or body swap on a Ranger. I like the older Ranger body style but i want the newer 4.0 motor. Wondering if it would cost less money to just do a body swap

6 one way....half dozen the other.

i prefer 4x4. so i would prefer the older rig but with beefed up traction beams or a solid axle swap.

if i wanted a lower hotrod drift ranger. for sure the older body on the newest chassis i could procure. beefed up ecoboost 4 whizzer or a 3.7/3.5 na cyclone with remote turbo.

Thank you for your reply
I am looking to buy a Ranger. I had one as my first car with the 3.0 v6 but i sold it.
I like the older boxie body style.
I want a regular cab non 4x4 with the 4.0l v6 207hp with the older body on it. Or the older truck with the new motor in it. If anyone has one and wants to sell it let me know. It doesn't need to be lifted or anything like that. I just want the power of the 4.0 and the look of the old truck. I don't like the new Ranger or 4th and 5th gen. I like the 2nd and 1st gen. So i would like a 2nd or 1st gen with a 3rd gen motor in it. I also want a single cab not ext cab or supercab

I edited out your website link. It was not a vehicle selling site. It was a site selling craptastic ad services and money lending.
I almost gave you the boot too as that seemed like a typical scammer trick of starting a subject and slipping in a scam link. I gave you the benefit of doubt. Don't blow it.

Sorry about that i didn't know it was some bad website. I won't post any links from now on. Thanks for not giving me the boot

The easiest way to get close to your "dream truck" would be getting a 1990 to 1992 Ranger with the 160hp OHV 4.0. (i.e.- a second generation Ranger).

It may take time, and you may have to buy one at a distance. You may get lucky, but 30-year old good trucks aren't plentiful and they're usually not cheap.

IF you are in the position, have the time, the funds, and the skills, then instead you may want to just build exactly the truck that you're wishing for.

On the other hand, buying a nice '90-92 gives you something you can drive right away; it's not too hard to retrofit the '83-88 flat-nose front end if you wanted to, and the second generation dash would probably be more forgiving if you wanted to do a SOHC transplant later. Or you could just squeeze a few more ponies out of the OHV with a few mods.

Good luck!

If all goes well tomorrow im going to go look at a Ranger. It has the 4.0 v6 207hp and its a single cab or regular cab. 2011 Ranger XL, it might be a fleet but i am not sure it doesn't say fleet on it. Its not my dream truck but it has got the right motor that i want. It has 126000 miles on it witch is less than my car. If all goes well i may buy it tomorrow its only 8,500 $ witch seems very low.

I must add that I prefer the 94-97 Ranger model with the OHV vs SOHC motor, much easier to work on. I've never had a SOHC but the front and rear cam chains from what I understand are a PITA. When I rebuilt my heads on my 97 4.0 I thanked god I didn't have to mess with pulling the motor to do the heads. I know 40hp is a lot to give up, but my 4.0 has some pep now. I often research problem model years and try to make the best choice when buying a used vehicle. Crazy thing is you have to pull the motor on my 97 to get the stupid oil pan off-why Ford!!! or pull the motor if the head gasket leaks on the SOHC on 98 and above motors. The 98-2011 are great trucks with added hp, just know that the cost to work on them could be higher. Q
