installing limited slip question

I assume that you're looking at putting this into your 2007? If you diff is still in good shape, then you could probably get away with putting a new set of bearings on the carrier, installing it, and checking backlash to be sure it's still in spec. Of course you would want to check backlash before you take anything out to be able to put it back to that.

If you haven't done work on a diff before, GET KNOWLEDGEABLE HELP!!! Someone that has done work on an 8.8 before. It is not just as simple as stated, there are still things to watch for and do.

yeah its on my 07 with stock 4.10 gears. my truck only has 25 000km so the diff is new. I have done some work on my diff already. I installed a powertrax lockright but did not like the ride quality so took it out. So new bearing for sure and stock shims should work? Just check backlash with some marking paint? If its good im fine right?

Backlash is checked with a dial indicator. Gear pattern is checked with marking paint.

Sometimes with a carrier swap everything falls right back into place where it should be....sometimes you gotta adjust things. If you haven't messed with gear set up I wouldn't practice my first one on something I drive every day.
