Hi I have a 94 ranger with the 4.0L V6 automatic. It's missing the fan shroud and overheats bad. I bought a replacement shroud online. But the bolts are missing to attach the shroud to the radiator. The two bolts on top of the radiator. Anybody know what size these are? Also does anyone have any tips for making this the easiest install possible? Thanks so much first post here. Sorry if this isn't correct place.

You're likely going to need to pull the fan to get the shroud on/in without hitting the radiator if I remember right.

The bolts are 6mm thread so probably 6mm by 15mm or 20mm long with a washer under the head, the stock bolts were flanged but not a big deal.

Thank you so much do you know what tools are required and sizes to remove the fan?

Unfortunately I don't, I haven't owned a 4L for like 13 years... it's a V6 so it might be back far enough to get around the fan, the fans are normally held on with 4 bolts with 10mm heads though which "might" be enough, depends how far the fan clutch sticks forward...

Do you think it would be easier removing the radiator instead of the fan?

Tool wise yes but icky coolant wise no (coolant is in the top 3 of my least favorite automotive fluids). If I remember right the fan is screwed onto the water pump pulley so takes a big wrench to get off and that is if the pulley doesn't slip on you...

I won't say it's impossible to install the shroud with the fan in, but I wouldn't wanna do it. Local parts store should have a loaner tool for that, assuming it isn't already broken. I made one out of an old chainsaw bar. Just cut a square notch near one end with a grinder.

My fan shroud is held on with s-clips at the bottom and a couple small (6mm) bolts at the top. It is from the 2.9 though. IDK if that matters. Every 4.0 radiator I've installed has had the notches at the bottom for those s-clips. I didn't have bolts in the top for awhile but just a pair of high quality cable ties. The same s-clips that hold the bottom would work at the top.
