So, set up my axle (ring and pinion) and now I want to put the lock right back in. So, can I install it with the ring gear attached? I ground down a ring gear tooth so the cross pin and slide in.

I put both sides of the lock-right in but there isn't enough room for the cross pin to clear the spacers...so what am I doing wrong? I have all the pins in but I do not have the axles or c-clips in. I need something clearer to understand than the 80's looking instructions (was it made in the 80's?) on TRS.

EDIT:

Ok I feel dumb. I installed the cup washers (the things that go around the c-clip) backwards. I took it apart, flipped them around, and the cross pin goes in just fine!
